Presidents Message
In his book Good to Great author Jim Collins instructs how to turn a good organization into one that produces sustained great results. He states: “Just because something is your core business – just because you have been doing it for years or perhaps even decades – does not necessarily mean you can be the best in the world at it”. Taking this to heart, we strive to constantly improve the service we provide to the young people we serve.
When our organization was created in 1941, providing supervision of young people and engaging them in fun activities was sufficient to achieve our mission. During the 1970’s, when many mothers sought employment outside of the home, a continuum of care required us to provide transportation from
school to the Club each weekday. By 2000, studies showed that young people needed good nutrition if they were to perform well academically. So, we provided free snacks and meals. We also instituted a mandatory activity each weekday called “Power Hour” during which staff help young people with their homework. Students fell further behind in their studies during the Covid Pandemic. So, we introduced a computer-based program to improve their reading and math skills.
In 2023, we adjusted once more by adding a Director of Impact position to measure and report the impact of our services. We are pleased to provide this synopsis of our findings. While our program has improved exponentially over the years, we will not cease to find new ways to become the best in the world at it.

Heathly Lifestyles Through Cooking
In the heart of the Mollenkopf Family Branch in 4S Ranch, a simple kitchen upgrade has sparked a culinary renaissance, transforming the way our Club members engage with food. Our dedication to promoting health and happiness has flourished with the inception of our Cooking Club, where members like Liem have discovered a newfound passion for cooking. Liem’s journey is emblematic of the transformative power of this initiative; not only has he embraced cooking as a source of joy and nourishment for himself, but he has also shared his skills with his family, turning mundane shopping trips into cherished bonding experiences. Through the simple act of cooking, we are fostering connections, empowering individuals, and enriching lives one meal at a time, ensuring that the spirit of health and happiness permeates every corner of our community.

Fostering Artistic Talent & Resilience
This school year, amidst our Club’s bustling activities, we uncovered a hidden talent: a second-grade member with an extraordinary gift for art. Despite previous challenges, her artistic abilities shined brightly, offering her solace and self-discovery during her parents’ separation. A dragon sketch unveiled her talent, earning her praise and boosting her confidence. Encouraged to share her art, she found pride in seeing her creations appreciated by peers. Through this journey, we witnessed not just artistic growth, but a remarkable resilience. At our Club, we’re committed to nurturing her talent, providing support, and celebrating the transformative power of creativity in our youth.
